Wellington Shafer's mother had been living there since August 9, 1867 (Sophia
Kilts Shafer - Mrs. Daniel D. Shafer). She had been caring for her elderly
father, John Kilts, son of Adam Kilts, who had come from Stone Arabia in 1790
and settled in Sharon. John Kilts died October 23, 1869.
