History From America's Most Famous Valleys

Probably the earliest description at the section of The Mohawk Valley today identified as Montgomery County waswritten in 1634. The author of the journal left Fort Orange and followed the trail westward through the Iroquois Hunting Grounds, describing as best he could what was seen in areas bearing Indian names. The 32 pages of well-preserved foolscap were found in an Amsterdam, Holland, attic in 1895.

They definitely established that Dutch traders from Albany were finding their way along the beautiful Mohawk Valley nearly three and a half centuries ago.
